The collection consists of 30 4x5 inch black and white photographs each with a corresponding negative. In 1987 photographers Anice Hoachlander and Harlan Hambright shot these images to document buildings on the 500 block of 9th Street NW and the 900 block of E Street NW in northwest Washington, D.C. These buildings were torn down to make way for a larger office building.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of 31 4x6 inch color and photocopied images of the Jackson Place complex. The photographs detail the buildings and its previous masonry and roofing repairs. There are three copies of each image making the total number of images 93. Content Description The collection consists of 443 glass plate negatives of various news related images generally taken around the mid-1920s. In the 1990s, Jerry McCoy, a Washingtingtoniana librarian and amateur photographer, made prints from the original negatives for researcher access. Eight of the negatives have no print and there is one print that has no negative. Writing on the rear of the prints is that of Washingtoniana volunteer Robert A. Collection consists of 366 35mm slides taken by photographers James Taulman (318 images), Jan Faul (29 images), and Robert Burgess (19 images) of buildings throughout the city. Tauman's images were taken as part of a project funded by Trammell Crow Company in Dalas Texas in 1980 to document recent commercial architecture across the country. Only the images documenting the District are included in this collection. The collection was assembled by the Library following its acquisition.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of 85 4x6 inch and 3.5x5 inch color images of the abandoned United Brick Company buildings and kilns. The kilns are located on New York Avenue NE and are currently owned by the United States National Arboretum. All the images were taken around 1993 and show the vast vegetation overgrowth and dilapidation of the site.

Scope and Contents The earliest postcards in the collection date from circa 1898 with the bulk of the materials dating from the 1920s to the 1940s. The collection consists almost exclusively of imprinted (ink) postcards but also includes “real-photo” (gelatin silver) variety as well.
